When fall rolls around, you break out the cashmere hats and scarves to update your look for cooler weather. The same principle can be applied to your home. Layering in some fall colors and textiles are a good place to start in creating a warmth and comfort perfect for the changing weather.

1. Textiles

There is no easier way to change the look and feel of your home season to season than with textiles. Swap out your summer floral pillows for something with more of an autumn feel. Think cozy and add a hand-woven throw in a ruddy fabric, which “adds subtle warmth and texture,” said HGTV. You can also bring in some autumnal hues in rugs and towels, and as HGTV says, “it’s time to stow the summer quilt and bring back the heavy-duty down comforter and thermal blankets.”

2. Color

Want a quick fix to update your home for the fall season? Add color. Paint a wall or hang a piece of art. Have some great pictures of changing leaves? Turn a blank wall into a fall gallery space.

3. Pillows and other accessories

4. Go natural

5. Take it outside
